Key Stage 4 Child Development
GCSE Child Development is delivered by Mrs Gault and Miss Sloan and is a fantastic course that students are incredibly enthusiastic about and this is reflected in the excellent GCSE results that pupils have achieved.
GCSE Child Development is a unitised course. There are three units, two external examinations and one controlled assessment unit.
The specification allows students to develop knowledge, understanding and skills relating to:

family, pregnancy and the responsibilities of being a parent;

birth and caring for a newborn baby;

diet and lifestyle choices and their impact;

the dietary and developmental needs of young children; and
-
the health and well-being of young children.
The specification delivered offers students the opportunity to develop the Cross-Curricular Skills and the Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities, which allow them to progress to other courses of study or employment. Many students go on to study A Level Health & Social Care.
